Goal: Try out some python, write some html and help me get to know you a little better.
Action:
1a. (optional) Install JES on your personal computer by visiting: http://code.google.com/p/mediacomp-jes/.
1b. (optional) Try accessing your antipasto files following the instructions at http://cs.union.edu/labs/D4LABS-WinXP/ (Windows) or http://cs.union.edu/labs/D4LABS-MAC/ (Mac - same as in the lab).
2. After, or while reading, chapter 2, try out ALL the python commands and programs in the chapter in your own installation of JES or in the Olin 107 lab.
3. For exercises 2.4-2.16 (pp. 36-37) predict the output of each, and test your prediction by executing the commands in JES.
4. For exercises 2.17 & 2.18 (p. 37) fix the code and execute your new code in JES to test that it works.
5. Create a webpage with the following information: (a) Your name, year and major; (b) a link to your home page; (c) A paragraph describing your computing experience (please include if you took CS in high school); and (d) a link to something "cool" and multimedia on the web. It is optional to add this information to your home page (ie. this can just be a document you hand in).
6. Complete Lab 1.
Deliverables:
1. A hard-copy and digital hand-in ("Send file" in "digital drop box" on Blackboard) of the webpage you created.
2. A hard-copy and digital hand-in of lab 1.
(NOTE: no deliverables for actions 1-4. Do these on your own.)
