Xiao Li School of Natural and Computing Sciences, University of Aberdeen, UK I am a new PhD student from China focusing on Natural Language Generation. Although this is my first year of PhD, I have already obtained a master's degree from Aberdeen University in the UK. The main theme of my research is understanding how humans use vagueness in explaining quantities and trying to apply this process in NLG processing. I have 3 years of work experience in website designing, system developing and management before my student life in the UK. During that time, I was the project director for a series of systems of the China National Tourism Administration (e.g. the National Tour Guide Resources Management System) and some other Chinese government departments. For implementing these systems, I led a group of around 10 people and was responsible for managing customer relationships, holding seminars and organizing the programing works. Hence, I believe this experience can greatly help me achieve the works of the SIGGEN board. If I am elected to the SIGGEN board, firstly I will try to make its web pages beautiful. Due to my relevant experience, I think I can update the website mixing some art elements and new technical features. On the other hand, I am planning to promote NLG as well as SIGGEN in China, where the institutions and universities involve a great number of researches. Nowadays, there are thousands of scientists and projects in China in the NLU domain with only few people working in NLG because NLG is unfamiliar to them. Hence, if we focus on them, both NLG and ACL SIGGEN would be growing rapidly.
