Union College
Fall 2008/Winter 2009

This is not a class like most other classes you have taken. Most importantly, in this "class", you get to decide the content (your project). You also learn on your own (reading papers and studying other people's research) and in discussions with me and other students (but I will not give lectures) and you decide how to apply your new knowledge (by building a solution to a problem of your own).

My role is to help you do this. I will discuss your project with you, give feedback and brainstorm with you. I will help you find literature, tools and other information. And I will provide a structure of meetings, reports and presentations that will hopefully help you stay focused on your project and make progress.

Please let me know if you have any problems with the structure I am providing. Let me know if you feel that there is something else I could do to help you or if you don't like the way we are doing certain things. While I do have reasons for the way I am setting things up, I am always willing to rethink them.
