Homework to prepare for class on Thursday of week 3

You should make your blog post by 10pm on Wednesday evening.


Chapter 10 ("Game Mechanics") of "The Art of Game Design" by Jesse Schell. (The book is now available in the bookstore.)


Hush. Unfortunately, the Windows version is hard to get to run, but the Mac version seems to work fine. If you don't have a Mac, you should go to the multimedia lab on the first floor of Steinmetz and use one of the Macs there.


Post a reaction to the game to the class blog. What effect did that game have on you? How does the game create this experience? You can talk about all game elements (mechanics, story, aesthetics, technology) but focus on the mechanics. What are the mechanics of this game? How do they help create the experience for the player?
