Abstract

One of the tenets of Computer Science (and engineering) is the astounding fact that some developers are 10x more productive than others. I have met those people, and often, they are us. Even more often, those people are not 10x better at *writing code*. In fact, many of the magnitude 10 productive programmers I have met are actually horrible code writers. What they excel at is simplifying problems, grabbing existing code, and integrating exising projects.

Bio: Far McKon is a developer of software, hardware, and community. By day, Far is the Nerd Herder at MakerBot, where he helps create amazing software to run on fantastic hardware. At night he moonlights as a gardener, bicycle nut, and developer-at-large. Far’s work in Wiki, Housing Cooperatives and Hackerspace scene all tie back to one passion: Epic Wins Through Cooperation.
