ID Major in Digital Art

Interdepartmental Major with Digital Art

A student can combine any two disciplines to create an interdepartmental (ID) major. If a student would like one part of that ID major to focus on digital art, he or she technically must do half of the major in Visual Arts, with courses allocated as follows:

  • four digital art courses
    • one at the 100 level
    • two at the 200 level
    • one at the 300 level
  • three studio art courses
    • one or two at the 100 level
    • one or two at the 200 level
    • zero or one at the 300 level
  • one art history course

Minor in Digital Media

Students can also minor in Digital Media, by taking 6 courses in Computer Science and Visual Arts, including:

  • An introductory Computer Science course (CSC 107 recommended)
  • CSC 240: Web Programming
  • A Computer Science course numbered above 110, chosen in consultation with the minor advisor
  • AVA 160: Digital Art
  • A visual arts course chosen from:
    • AVA 262: Real and Recorded Time
    • AVA 270: The Processed Pixel
    • AVA 280: Web Aesthetics
    • AVA 363: 3D Computer Modeling
    • AVA 370: Physical Computing
